Are you starting in the world of surfing or want to upgrade your equipment? At Hotel Palmar Surf Camp, we help you complete everything you need to surf safely, comfortably, and stylishly. Here we tell you what the essential elements of the complete surf gear are and how to choose the best for you.

1. Surfboard

It is the heart of the equipment.

Beginners: Large and stable Softboards.
Intermediate/Advanced: Shortboards, longboards, or fish, according to your style. At Palmar, we have boards for rent and sale.

2. Leash

Connects your ankle to the board so it doesn't drift away if you fall.

Make sure it is of good quality and the right length for your board.

3. Fins

They are the "fins" under the board that give you stability and control.

There are different configurations: single, thruster (3), quad (4)...
Ideal for maneuvers and better grip on the wave.

4. Surf Suit or Lycra

Depending on the weather and water temperature:

Lycra or rash guard: Protects from the sun and chafing.
Wetsuit (neoprene): Ideal for cold waters.

5. Surf Wax or Grip Pad

Helps prevent slipping on the board.

Wax is applied to the top of the board.
The grip pad is installed on the rear and is durable.

6. Water-resistant Sunscreen

Essential for protecting your skin.

Use "reef-friendly" sunscreens that do not harm corals.
SPF 50 or higher is ideal for the tropics.

7. Board Bag or Cover

Protect your board from the sun and bumps when transporting it.

There are also backpacks to carry all your gear comfortably.

8. Useful Extra Accessories

Surf-friendly hat or cap
Reusable water bottle
Board repair kit
Towel poncho for changing comfortably at the beach
